Mantra Flow is our livelier evening of kirtan, a fuller band, more voices, and the kind of energy that builds slowly until the whole room is moving.
Kirtan is mantra-based musical meditation: call and response, ancient names sung back and forth, the rhythm carrying everyone with it. It can be still and inward and it can also be loud, joyful, and unapologetically alive. This one leans into the second. Expect drums, harmonium, more musicians than usual, and an open invitation to sing as loudly as you like, clap, sway, or get up and dance. Whatever the chant draws out of you, let it come.
We’ll begin with a short guided meditation a moment to arrive, soften, drop in. From there the music opens up. In the Bhakti tradition this kind of full-bodied chanting is called sankirtan, singing together and it’s understood as one of the most direct ways to taste the joy at the heart of the practice. You don’t have to know any of that to feel it. You only have to show up and join in.
As always, the evening closes with a plant-based meal shared together.
