A weekend of healing and clarity, a practical approach to spiritual recovery with BRG Founder Jiva Hammond

FRIDAY JUNE 6th 6pm - 8.30pm - Intro

SATURDAY JUNE 7th  11am - 3pm - Workshop (inc lunch)

This weekend is for anyone looking for support, honesty, and spiritual tools that actually work. We’ll focus on Steps One through Three and how they connect with Bhakti Yoga and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.

Expect a mix of group sharing, simple spiritual practices, and clear guidance for moving forward in recovery.

What’s Included:

• A real look at Steps One, Two, and Three through the lens of Bhakti

• Sharing circles that are honest and supportive

• Mantra, prayer, and service as practical daily tools

• Journaling prompts and group discussions

• A simple, nourishing meal (prasadam) on Saturday

Themes We’ll Cover:

• “Powerless, not helpless”: what surrender really means

• “The gift of desperation”: how hitting bottom can lead to change

• Daily spiritual tools you can actually use

You don’t need to be experienced in Bhakti or recovery to come. Just bring a willingness to be open and real.

This is a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with yourself, with others, and with something greater.

Jiva Hammond has been in recovery for 35 years. Raised in NYC and drawn early into the hardcore punk scene, she battled heroin addiction, homelessness, and deep trauma before finding sobriety through a 12-step program and spiritual surrender. Later, a second emotional bottom led her to fully embrace Krishna Consciousness. Seeing a need for healing within Bhakti communities, she founded Bhakti Recovery Group (BRG), a nonprofit that blends 12-step recovery with Bhakti teachings. BRG offers meetings, retreats, and a global support network—helping others find the freedom she was given.

The Bhakti Recovery Group is an all-inclusive 12-Step/bhakti-oriented fellowship that brings together people who share their experience, strength, and hope, as it relates to finding freedom from various addictions and associated behaviours. The only requirement for membership is the desire for recovery.

their primary purpose is to stay in the process of recovery through the 12 steps and the practice of bhakti yoga, carrying this message in loving service to others who are struggling with their addictions and associated behaviors.
